The Grandview Theatre opened in September of 1926 as a first-run venue, opening with Behind the Front (1926) starring Wallace Beery. By 1983, the theatre was completely shuttered, with the marquee falling into disrepair and the entire front of the building eventually painted a wonderful green color. In October, Columbus Independent Media, run by David Nedrow and Jennifer Stancel, leased the theatre with plans to re-open it in 2009 after major interior renovations. It will continue to show independent and international films, as well as classics.
